How to fix the "Trusted Platform Module has malfunctioned" error on your computer
The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is like a security guard
inside your computer. It keeps your computer safe from hackers and bad
software. But sometimes, this security guard can have problems, and that can
make your computer show an error message like "Trusted Platform Module
has malfunctioned."
If you see this error, you can try a few things to fix it:
1. By Removing Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy
- Open File Explorer.
- Navigate to the following directory: (Replace
{UserFolder} with your own account folder name) C:\Users\{UserFolder}\AppData\Local\Packages - Eg: C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Packages
- Search for Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy
and rename it as Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy.old (for backup,
in case if it goes wrong). - Restart your computer.
2. Update your TPM Driver.
- Sometimes, old TPM drivers can cause issues.
To update them, go to Device Manager, find "Trusted Platform Module"
under Security devices, right-click it, and choose "Update driver."
Let Windows find and install the latest TPM driver for you.
3. Clear the TPM
- This resets the TPM to its default settings. Go
to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Device
Security. - Under "Security processor," select "Security processor details" > "Security processor
troubleshooting," Select and option and click "Clear TPM." - Restart your computer.
